Matia Instituto Gerontológico is the Matia Fundazioa unit dedicated to the creation of applicable knowledge and its dissemination in society. We are a non-profit, private organization which aims to generate multidisciplinary scientific knowledge to maximise the personal autonomy, independence, health and quality of life of the elderly and their caregivers.
What are our roles in the project?
We are the leaders of the Knowledge Management Unit 5 (KmU 5) which general aim is to understand better the specificities of innovation in services at home and how these services must be studied and validated before going to the market.
We also contribute in three different Work Packages (WP):
- WP3: about the social participation of elderly people and the intervention programmes with children and young people.
- WP6: about engaging elderly people in research activities.
- WP8: supporting mechanisms for the creation of innovative companies.
What are our goals/expectations in this project?
As we all know, elderly people want to stay in their homes as long as possible. We are aware of this and have already started working on generating a new model that aims to transform the traditional care model that is developed in care centres, to a form of care as close as possible to that which is carried out at home.
